Mrs. Burt Olson Dies at Age of 59
Mrs. Burt (Mardie) Olson, 59, died last night in Holy Family Hospital. The cause of death was attributed to a series of strokes. She had been ill since June and seriously ill since Nov. 20.

Mrs. Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, was born May 20, 1903, in Decatur County. She moved to Estherville with her family in 1909 and received her education in the Estherville schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Olson were married on Dec. 24, 1924, in Fairmont and they made their home here where Mr. Olson operated a salvage yard. He died in 1954. Mrs. Olson was a member of the Fellowship Tabernacle Church.

Mrs. Olson is survived by three daughters, Ethel Collins, Waterloo, Mrs. Herbert (Helen) Schwidder, Estherville, Mrs. Roger (Caroline) Mulbrook, Mingo, one son, Henry Ellsworth Collins, Fresno, Calif., 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother, Omer Smith, Bettendorf, and two sisters, Mrs. Delia Richmond, Waterloo, and Mrs. Perry Morris, Motley, Minn. Mrs. Olson was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held in the Fellowship Tabernacle Church but a relative is en route from Germany and the time of service will be announced later. Burial will be at East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Sunday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 30, 1962)

Funeral for Mrs. Olson Scheduled for Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Burt (Mardie) Olson, 59, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fellowship Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Kenneth Fogleman on Evansdale officiating. Family services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Stone officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Olson died Thursday [November 29, 1962] in Holy Family Hospital. The cause of death was attributed to a series of strokes. She had been ill since June and seriously ill since Nov. 20.

Funeral services have been delayed so a relative from Germany could be present.

Friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home until 11 a.m. on Wednesday at which time the body will be taken to the church where it will lie in state until time of service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 3, 1962)
