Mrs. Nygaard Services Held at Spencer
Services for Anna Petrea Nygaard, 76, were held Saturday at the Warner Funeral Chapel in Spencer with Pastor David Gurmaster officiating. Burial was in East Lawn [Side] Cemetery at Estherville. Henry Hankey sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “How Great Thou Art” and was accompanied by Mrs. Lowell Hagedorn. Pallbearers were Loyd Gee, Frank Meyer, Raymond Mason, Bob Wheatley, Verlyn DeWall and Wayne Daniels.Mrs. Nygaard was born July 1, 1892 at Nibe [Ribe], Denmark to Peter and Juliane Nielsen Rindsig. She came to this country and was married to Chris A. Nygaard on March 6, 1941 [?] at Newell.
Mr. and Mrs. Nygaard came to the Spencer community 1928 and were members of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Following a period of failing health, Mrs. Nygaard made her home at St. Luke’s Home for about one and one half years. A setback made it necessary to enter the Palo Alto Hosptial where she died July 24.
Survivors include two sons, Julian and Norman; two daughters, Mrs. Everett (Kathryn) Kirby of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Francis (Betty) Ellis of Emmetsburg; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Petrine Koruberg and Mrs. Matea Schau both still residing in Denmark.
Mrs. Nygaard was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 27, 1961, one brother Nels Rindsig and one daughter Mrs. Ray Mason. (Reporter, Emmetsburg, IA, July 30, 1968)
