Robert Franklin Fox, Sr., the son of R. D. and Dorothy (Tripp) Fox, was born November 30, 1915, in Oelwein, Iowa and departed this life at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on Wednesday, December 15, 1993, at the age of 78 years and 15 days. Bob grew up in Oelwein and moved with his parents to Estherville in 1935. He received his education in the Oelwein schools, graduating from Oelwein High School.

On July 2, 1936, he was united in marriage to Mildred E. Sampson in Estherville. he was employed by the Rock Island Railroad as chief depot clerk, from 1937, until his retirement in July of 1977.

He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.
Mr. Fox is survived by his wife, Mildred E. Fox of Estherville; two sons, Robert F. Fox, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Benjamin A. Fox of Waconia, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Rick Fox, Jason Fox, Christine Fox, Lance Fox, Jacinda Crew, Sue Loue, Rob Schwarting; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Fox, Robert Fox, III, Kali Sue Loue; two sisters, Betty Lou Lunde and her husband, Ove, of Esmond, North Dakota; Mardelle (Marty) Rogge and her husband, Smith of Battle Creek, Iowa; and three brothers, Jim Fox and his Naomi of Estherville; Roy Fox and his wife, Rita of Humboldt, Iowa and Rolland Fox and his wife, Dolores of Titonka, Iowa. He has been preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Services will be Monday, December 20, 1993 at the Estherville Lutheran Church, Estherville, Iowa with interment at East Side Cemetery in Estherville, Iowa. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December, 1993)
