Estherville – Services for Gwendoline Peterson, 82, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Monsignor Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Wednesday Feb. 10, 1999 at Estherville Good Samaritan Center.Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Parish Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born October 20, 1916 at Auckland, New Zealand, the daughter of Robert and Alberta (Galiarti) McGlone. She attended school and graduated from high school there. She was united in marriage with Cecil E. Peterson on Dec. 9, 1943 n Aukland. After World War II, she moved to the United States and the couple made their home in Dolliver and Dunnell before moving to Estherville in 1949. She worked as a waitress at Peoples Tavern and Friendly Tavern a number of years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son Michael of Redwood City, Calif.; daughter, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Zufall, Maple Grove, Minn. and daughter-in-law Jean Peterson of Charles City; grandchildren: Wendy, Becky, Michael, Anthony, Jennifer and Scott; great-grandchild Sarah and sister Louise Anderson, Aukland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; one son, Peter, parents and nine brothers and sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 12, 1999)
