Estherville – Services for Leonard Pluth, 87, of Estherville, will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estheville with interment in East Side Memorial Cemetery. Father Tom Nash and Rev. Eugene Peterson will preside. He died Thurs., July 23, 1998, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Parish vigil service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 17, 1910 at Westphalia, Iowa, the son of John and Antonia (Kohlese) Pluth. He received his education in the rural Emmet County schools. On Feb. 26, 1935, he married Friedoreca Hillmer in Estherville. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Estherville area. In 1941, they moved to Minnesota where they continued to farm. He retired in 1975.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Elks Lodge and V.F.W. Post #3388, all of Estherville.

Survivors include his wife Frieda Pluth, rural Estherville, sons: Donald of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Eugene of Rapid City, S.D., daughter, Mrs. Mike (Karen) Stout of Denver, Col.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Loretta) Spoo, Gruver and Hilda Wempe, Estherville; many nieces and nephews.
