Elizabeth Salyers
Estherville – Services for Elizabeth Salyers, 89, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Thursday, Aug. 23, 1990 at Rosewood Manor, Estherville.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, Legion of Mary will be 4 p.m. and Vigil for the Deceased at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

She was born November 4, 1900 at Nevada, the daughter of Frank and Katherine (Maroney) Batman and attended Ames schools where she graduated from high school. On Jan. 12, 1929 she married Maurice Salyers at Ames. She lived most of her life in the Estherville area and was employed at the Gardston Hotel as bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son Joe Salyers, Big Sur, Calif.; one grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Morris, Ames and a brother Homer Matman [Batman] of Conn.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 22, 1972. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 25, 1990)
