Estherville – Services for Elsie Viola Roben, 74, of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 29 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel with Father Thomas Topf presiding. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. She died on December 25 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Estherville.

She was born on January 28, 1918 in Dolliver, the daughter of Samuel and Emma (Oyan) Clements. She graduated from Estherville schools and received her teaching certificate. She married Ernest Anton Roben on June 21, 1939 in Clinton. She lived in the Estherville area all her life and taught school for three years in a one room school house. After her marriage, the couple farmed in the Estherville area for several years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a charter member of “Just a Dozen” Club in Estherville.

She is survived by one daughter, Dawn Andrews, Delano, Minn.; one son, James Roben, Brownsville, Calif.; and one sister, Lois Ramsey, Estherville. Other survivors include four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Emma Clements; her husband, Ernest Roben; and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1992)
