Estherville – Services for Mildred Josephine Sudek, 76, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Sunday, Dec. 2, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.She was born Jan. 2, 1914 at Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Alice (Neith) Torgeson and was a 1932 graduate of Topeka High School. In 1940 she moved to New York City and was employed with the United States Government there and in Washington, D.C. She married Joseph Sudek in New York City. In 1954 she moved to Estherville where she was employed by Gamble-Robinson and later Holy Family Hospital. She retired in 1978.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Altar and Rosary Society, Eucharistic Minister, member and past president of the Legion of Mary, VFW Auxiliary, sewing circle of friends and had been a member of the United States Figure Skating Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Mary Jo) Borland, Gilmore City; five grandchildren: Joie, Ryan, John, Katie Jo and Elizabeth; two brothers: C.B. (Torgie) Torgeson, Spirit Lake and Floyd Torgeson, Topeka, Kans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 5, 1990)
