F.M. Newton and wife are happy over the coming of a new boy to their home the 31st ult. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, April 3, 1890)

Merrell Earnest, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Newton died Friday, August 29, 1890, of cholera infantum. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, Rev. L.C. Woodford conducting the services. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, September 5, 1890)

The little son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Newton died on last Friday morning of summer complaint. The child was five months old and had been sick but a week. The family desire to thank the friends who rendered sympathy in their affliction. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, September 4, 1890)
