Mrs. William Nehring of Gruver Dies
Mrs. William Nehring, one of the pioneer settlers of the Gruver community, died this morning at 2 a.m. at Holy Family hospital after suffering a paralytic stroke eight months ago. She was 80.

Mrs. Nehring (Emma Jane Peak) was born March 4 [?], 1872 near Manson, the daughter of George and Sarah Peak. The family moved to the Gruver community when she was eight years old and she received her education in schools in that vicinity.

She was married to William Nehring, Jan. 25, 1894 in Estherville by Reverend Conklin. The Nehrings have lived in Gruver most of their married life.

She attended and was active in affairs of the Gruver Presbyterian church.

Surviving are her husband, three son, George of Berkley, Mich., Charles of Royal Oak, Mich., and Floyd of Gruver; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Eva) Barber of Gruver; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two children who died in infancy, Philip and Rosa May.

Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. J.N. Bauman of Blue Earth, Minn., Edith and Elizabeth Peak of Dunsieth, N.D., two brothers, John W. Peak of Alexander, N.D., and Phillip B. Peak of Estherville; two nephews and three nieces.

Services for Mrs. Nehring will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Gruver Presbyterian church with the Rev. H.C. McMican officiating. Burial will be at East Side cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sandin funeral home after 6 p.m. tomorrow. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 21, 1952)
