Mrs. Orval Myers, Former Buffalo Center Resident, Dies
Mrs. Orval Myers, age 67, of Goodell, a former Buffalo Center resident, passed away at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville December 31st.

She and her husband were in Estherville visiting their children during the holidays where she suddenly became ill.

Mrs. Myers (Fay Johnston) was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Johnston, longtime residents of the Buffalo Center community. She was a graduate of Buffalo Center High School and was a teacher in Winnebago County schools for a number of years. She was married to Orval W. Myers December 15th, 1914. In 1919 they moved to Estherville and lived there until 1953. After Mr. Myers’ retirement from the Rock Island Railroad, they purchased a home in Goodell where they have lived the past five years. She is survived by her husband, her son, Jack, of Estherville, two daughters, Muriel (Mrs. Lester Bergeson) of Gruver, and Nelle (Mrs. Francis Anderson) of Royal. Also two sisters, Bessie (Mrs. O.S. Olson) of Goodell, Bonna (Mrs. Arvel McClintic) of Des Moines, an only brother, Wade W. Johnston of Estherville and thirteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Sternborg Chapel at Eshtherville with Rev. Donald Barce of Goodell officiating. Burial was in the Eastside Cemetery at Estherville.

Attending the funeral from Buffalo Center were Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Beyer and Mrs. Edw. Thiele. (Buffalo Center Tribune, Buffalo Center, IA, January 8, 1959)
