Estherville – M. [Merlynn] J. (Jack) Myers, 59, Estherville, died Sunday [October 10, 1976] at the Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville, with the Rev. R.B. Flentgen officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Myers was born Jan. 16, 1917 at Rake to Orval and Faye Johnston Myer and was educated in Estherville. He was married to Lillian Wellnitz May 27, 1939 at Estherville and had lived in Estherville since he was three years of age. Mr. Myers was employed with the Rock Island Railroad 33 years and was an engineer since 1941. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Survivors include his widow, Lillian; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Kelly, Mason City; Mrs. J.C. (Sandy) Dewald, Owatonna, Minn.; and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Sunde, Vermillion, S.D.; three sons, John D. Myers, Estherville; Joe L. Myers, Cedar Rapids; and Jim Myers, at home; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lester (Muriel) Bergeson, Estherville; and Mrs. Francis (Nelle) Anderson, Royal.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 12, 1976)
