Orval Myers
Orval (Ollie) West Myers, 82, Goodell, formerly of Estherville, died Tuesday [September 14, 1971] at 11:30 a.m. at Belmond Community Hospital, Belmond. He suffered a stroke Friday.He was born June 3, 1889, in Boone County to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Myers. He was educated in Des Moines schools.
He married Fay Johnston Dec. 15, 1914, at Buffalo Center. They moved to Estherville in 1919 where he worked for the Rock Island Railroad. They moved to Goodell in 1953. He retired from the railroad in 1954. He was a member of the Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers Lodge 605.
His wife died Dec. 31, 1958.
Survivors include on sons, Jack Myers, Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Muriel) Bergeson, Estherville and Mrs. Francis (Nelle) Anderson, Royal; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three brothers, William and Edward Myers, Lohrville, and Truman Myers, Fantanelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday until time of service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 15, 1971)
