Funeral rites were held today for Orrie E. Myers, 59 Mr. Myers, pioneer, died Monday [September 7, 1942] after a long illness. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 10, 1942)

Corp. Paul Myers came Saturday from San Diego, Calif., where he is stationed on a fifteen day furlough. He was called home by the serious illness of his father, Orrie Myers. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 10, 1942)

Orrie Edward Meyers, 59 of Gruver was born January 1, 1883, at Sioux Rapids. He was married to Rosetta Mae Hart February 15, 1910 at Webb. He lived near Terril until nine years ago when he moved on a farm near Gruver. He was very well known in this vicinity.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Harris and Corp. Paul Meyers of Camp Callan, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. William Harvey Jr.

Mr. Myers had suffered from heart trouble for the past three years. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 10, at 1:30 at the home and at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church in Estherville with Rev. Albert Husted of the Gruver Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was made in the Eastside cemetery in Estherville. Pall bearers were George Swanson, Walter Swanson, Milton Evans, Arthur Yates, George Frank and Charles Higgins.
