Rites Tuesday for Martin Sevatson, 85
Martin S. Sevatson, 85, a lifelong resident of Emmet County, died Saturday [April 7, 1962] at 1:15 p.m. at the Balmer Nursing Home in Estherville. Mr. Sevatson had been a patient at the home for the past seven years, six of which he had been confined to bed. Death was due to complications of advanced age.

Born April 2, 1877 on a farm northwest of Graettinger, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sevat Sevatson, Mr. Sevatson received his education in the rural Emmet County and Windom, Minn. schools.

On Nov. 21, 1899 he was married to Josephine Bloomquist in Wallingford. He was a livestock buyer in this area until his retirement in 1924.

Mr. Sevatson was baptized and confirmed in the Wallingford Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Dr. S.M. Sevatson of Spirit Lake, and two grandchildren, Trudi of Spirit Lake and Mervin of Wallingford. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Mrs. Harry Edgerton, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Marvin Miller, Sumner, Wash.; Calif.; Mrs. Bertha Wigton, Enumclaw, Wash.; Mrs. Emma Anderson, Wallingford; Mrs. Elma Peterson, Estherville; Miss Lena Sevatson of Forsythe, Minn., and Lewis Sevatson of Wallingford.

His parents, wife and one brother and a grandson preceded him in death.

Services are set for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Sternborg-Reese Chapel. The Rev. N.L. Jolivette will officiate with burial to be in the East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the home from today until time of services.

Pallbearers are F.I. Skattebo, S.T. Dybdahl, Jamie Kasa, Silas Lundy, Arthur Aanonson and C.P. Jackson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 9, 1962)
