Mrs. Peter Scholtes Dies at 83
Mrs. Peter Scholtes, 83, resident of Estherville since 1902, died Sunday [March 13, 1966] shortly before 4 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Her death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

Theresa A. Bofenkamp was born Dec. 23, 1882, at Belle Plaine, Minn.

She was married April 15, 1902, at Ellsworth, Minn., to Peter Scholtes. That same year Mr. and Mrs. Scholtes established their home in Estherville and continued to live here since that time. Next month they would have observed their 64th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Scholtes was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Altar and Rosary Society women’s organization.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Lambert of Oak Park, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Cohn of Bethesda, Md.; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Scholtes was the last in a family of 19 children, having been preceded in death by her parents and 18 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are to be Wednesday, 10 a.m., St. Patrick’s Church, Rev. Peter R. Scholtes, grandson of Mrs. Scholtes, officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the home after 7 p.m. today until time of services Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 14, 1966)
