George Carr, Estherville Farmer Dies
George Thomas Carr, 64, Estherville area farmer, died shortly after midnight Friday at his home from a heart attack. Mr. Carr owned and operated a farm 1 ½ miles west of Estherville.

He was born Sept. 12, 1902 at Oregon, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Carr. He received his education in schools in Illinois, Iowa, and attended Iowa State College, Ames.

On Feb. 1, 1945, he married the former Mabel Elwood at Estherville. They farmed in the Swea City ara until 1939 when they purchased the present farm.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, Dr. Dennis Carr, Montfort, Wis., Eugene at home, Harold, Spirit Lake and Thomas, a student at Iowa State University, Ames.

Also two daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Delores) Taormina, Chapel Hil, N.C., and Mrs. Bernell (Helen) Fonder, Sioux Falls, S.C., one brother, Harold, Swea City and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, the former Mary Sullivan, an infant sister and an infant son.

Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at Reese-Henry Chapel, with mass Monday at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Church, Fr. James Fangman officiating.

Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Sunday and until 9 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1967)
