Raymond R. Hyer Dies
Raymond Ralph Hyer, 53, lifetime resident of Emmet County, died Saturday [March 21, 1964] at 8:30 p.m. at his home in Huntington. Cause of death was a heart attack. Mr. Hyer had been in failing health since September.

Mr. Hyer had spent his entire life in Emmet County. He was born Aug. 14, 1910, at the farm home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Hyer, who lived north of Estherville.

He received his education in the rural Emmet County schools and was married July 14, 1938, to Emily Koranda at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson, Minn.

Mr. Hyer farmed for many years with his brothers, Paul and the late Warren Hyer. In 1946 he retired from farming and moved to Huntington. Since that time he had been engaged in the corn shelling business.

He was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Church in Jackson.

Mr. Hyer is survived by his widow; two brothers, Ernest of Estherville and Paul of Huntington; and a sister, Mrs. Lee (Esther) Schultz of near Gruver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

A Rosary service will be held at 8:30 o’clock at the Reese Funeral Chapel Tuesday at 10 a.m., the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home until time of the services tomorrow morning.

Pallbearers are to be Melvin Neppl, Earl Neppl, James Simon, Leonard Duer, Floyd Hyer and Ralph Hyer. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1964)
