Mrs. John Morrissey Dies at 89
Mrs. John [Katherine Hannah Morrissey] Morrissey, 89, died yesterday at 8:30 p.m. at the Origer Nursing Home in Estherville. Mrs. Morrissey had suffered a broken hip in a fall at her home five weeks ago and after spending three weeks in the hospital was admitted to the nursing home, where she died.

Mrs. Morrissey was born in LaSalle County, Ill., July 21, 1870, and received her education and grew to womanhood in that area. She and her husband were married in Ottawa and lived there until they came to Estherville nearly 36 years ago.

Her husband operated a meat market in Illinois and a grocery store here in the building that is now the Dari Delite. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Waldron and a son, Roy Morrissey, both of Estherville, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; four children; two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Church, with the Rev. Gerald Fisch officiating. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Sandin Fuhrman Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from Sunday until time of services. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 5, 1960)
