Services for Mrs. Gus (Frances Mae) Ramsey, 80, will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev Neal Armstrong of the Gruver Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Saturday, Jan 13, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital.

She was born April 2, 1909 at Gilmore City, the daughter of Mortimore and Stella (Hammersly) Higgins. Her family lived in Gilmore City and Cylinder area before moving to the Estherville area. She was a graduate of Emmet Consolidated High School. On Jan 15, 1937 she was united in marriage with Gus A. Ramsey at Estherville. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Gruver area most of their married life. She was a member of the Gruver Presbyterian church. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Magnus (Margaret) Anderson, Armstrong; Jo Ann Ramsey, Kansas City,Kans; two sons: James Ramsey and Joe Higgins, Estherville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters; Barbara Higgins, Marshalltown; Mrs. Helen Osberg, Spirit Lake; Mrs. Melvin (Mary) Ellis and Mrs. Emma Dean of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Friday, Jan 12, 1990; parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, January 16, 1990)
