Charlie McLane
Charlie Frank McLane, 57, formerly of Estherville, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday [September 11, 1971] at St. Lukes Medical Center at Sioux City. He had been in failing health for the past two years.He was born April 1, 1914, at Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Chester McLane. He received his education in the Estherville schools.
He spent most of his life in Estherville and moved to Sioux City in 1969. He was employed at the Cummins Nursing Home in Sioux City until ill health forced him to retire.
He served in the Air Force for 3 ½ years in WW II and was a member of the American Legion.
He was married to Angie Thompson Sept. 27, 1946, at Jackson, Minn.
Survivors include his wife, Angie, Sioux City; and one sister, Mrs. Paul (Nellie) Warner, Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Val Hauck officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery. Reese-Henry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The body will lie in state after 3 p.m. until noon Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 13, 1971)
