Rites Set For Kenneth May
Kenneth E. May, 61, died in his home late Thursday evening or early Friday morning, from a combination of a prior illness and poisoning from carbon monoxide gas, which had leaked from a broken flue at the rear of the home’s furnace. The ruling on the death was made by Emmet County Medical Examiner Dr. Robert Dawson.Mr. May was born Oct. 4, 1909, at New Albin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur May. He moved with his family to Lake Park, where he received his education. He attended Iowa State University.
On March 9, 1935, he was married to Lucile Sewick at Spencer. He was a furniture salesman at Pocahontas, Emmetsburg and Estherville, moving to Estherville in May, 1949. He was employed by the former Sanborn Furniture Co., and the Holtz Furniture Co., before moving to the Coast-to-Coast Store as an employee. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile; one son, James A. May, Norwalk; one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Byers, Fairmont; and one brother, Warren J. May, in Hawaii.
Funeral services have been set for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at any time at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until time of services.
Pallbearers include Clyde Sanborn, Len Fick, Clarion Houge, William O. Anderson, Charles B. Mace and Lee Book. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 1, 1971)
