Estherville Woman’s Rites Set
Estherville – Bertha Mae Mauss, 89, Estherville, passed away Saturday [August 31, 1974] at the Good Samaritan Center.She was born May 29, 1885 in Brookville, Ill., to Isaiah and Mary Paul Rudisill. She received her education in Illinois country schools and was married to Arthur F. Mauss on August 21, 1907 in Belmond.
They moved to Estherville in 1930 and operated a grocery store until 1949. She had been a resident of Good Samaritan for one month and was a member of United Methodist Church, Estherville.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Best, Hemet, Calif.; Mrs. Elvin (Ruth) Lewis, Berthoud, Colo.; and Mrs. Ed (Gladys) Hutchinson, Spirit Lake; two sons, Charles, Canoga Park, Calif.; and Robert, Waverly; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lidia Grunewald, San Diego and Mrs. Pearl Murr, Mason City; and one brother, John Rudisill, Woden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister.
Services for Mrs. Mauss will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Henry Funeral Home in Estherville until time of service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 3, 1974)
