Mabel Mason Dies Saturday
Mabel Elizabeth Mason, 64, Estherville, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 1972, from a long illness. She was born Dec. 17, 1907, at Estherville to Jonas and Julia Amdal and attended Estherville schools.She was married June 1926, to Loyle S. Mason in Armstrong. Mrs. Mason retired four years ago as cafeteria manager at John Morrell and Co. where she had been employed for many years.
Mrs. Mason was a lifetime member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Gold Star Mothers. She was also Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors are two sons, Loyle M. Mason, Sioux City; and Dick Mason, Davenport, two granddaughters, Laurie and Stacy Mason, Davenport; three sisters, Hazel Amdal, Estherville; Mrs. Roland (Gladys) Schroeck, Estherville, and Mrs. Fred (Lena) Owen, Guthrie Center; one brother, J.M. (Jake) Amdal, Tacoma, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one daughter, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime at Fuhrman Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church.
Pallbearers are Charles Schroeck, Charles Owen, Gilbert Amdahl, Larry Amdal, James Mason, and Allen Nelson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 7, 1972)
