Merton T. Mason
Merton Thomas Mason, 61, Estherville, died at 7:10 p.m. at Veterans Hospital at Minneapolis from a heart condition.

He was born June 30, 1909, at Armstrong, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Mason. He received his schooling at Armstrong.

He was married on Dec. 16, 1931, to Helen Sullivan at Sioux Falls, S.D. He began working for the City of Estherville on April 30, 1936, and retired July 30, 1969. He was superintendent of the distribution of electricity for the City of Estherville at the time of his retirement, which was due to ill health.

He was a veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one son, James; three grandchildren, Stephen, Patrick, and Kathryn, all of Estherville; and one sister, Mrs. Nolan Nelson, Estherville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.

Graveside military services will be conducted by the VFW Post 3388. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 21, 1971)
