Estherville Girl Killed in Crash North of Austin
Austin, Minn.- The collision of a car and a large cattle truck near here Sunday night fatally injured an Iowa girl and sent a second girl to the hospital with injuries.

Mary Mason, 19, Estherville, died in an Austin hospital at 2 a.m. Monday about five hours after the accident. Hospitalized with a broken arm and other injuries is Beryl Recker, 19, also of Estherville.

The highway patrol reported that the car, driven by Miss Mason, went out of control near the intersections of Highways 251 and 218, about 7 miles north of Austin, and skidded broadside into the path of a livestock truck loaded with steers. (Mason City Globe-Gazette, Mason City, IA, January 19, 1959)
