Former Dickinson County Farmer Dies in Estherville
Frank J. Manthey, aged 83, and a resident on a farm west of Superior for thirteen years, died Sunday morning August 5, in Estherville after a long illness.Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the home in Estherville with further services at two-thirty o’clock in the Methodist church in that city. The Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer of Grace Methodist church in Spencer and a former pastor of the Estherville church was the officiating minister. Burial was in East Side cemetery.
Frank J. Manthey was born September 19, 1962, at Cedarburg, Wisconsin. When he was twenty-one years of age he moved with his parents to a farm near Charles City, Iowa. He was married there to Miss Emma Wolf, who, with their three children, survives him.
The children are: Frances, at home, Mrs. Gilbert Amdahl and Mrs. Lyle Stoddard of Estherville. There are also seven grandchildren, two sisters and a sister-in-law. The latter is Minnie Wolf, who makes her home with the Manthey family. The sisters are Mrs. Frank Jansick and Mrs. Olena Feil [Fell?] of Charles City.
