Estherville – Services for Evelyn Marian Thelen, 67, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Wednesday, March 12, 1986 at her home.

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 4, 1918 at Wall Lake, the daughter of Joe and Agnes (Lyons) Heidenreich. She attended Wall Lake schools and was a graduate of Wall Lake High school; she attended Buena Vista College at Storm Lake where she earned a teaching degree in 1937. On Nov. 24, 1938 she was united in marriage with Engelbert Thelen at Sioux City. Following their marriage they lived in Storm Lake and moved to Estherville in 1952. She was a 20-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by six sons: Richard, Arlington, Tex.; William, Spencer; David, Fairmont, Minn.; Ted, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Phillip and Jeff, Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Pat) Rouse and Mrs. James (Sandy) Jensen, Estherville; 21 grandchildren; two brothers: Donald and Lloyd Heidenreich, Wall Lake; and one sister, Mrs. Joe (Opal) Dinges, Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 15, 1986)
