Estherville – Services for Mrs. Roy (Alma) Smith, 71, were held Saturday morning at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father A.O. Grendler officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Fuhrman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She died Wednesday, April 11, 1984 at her home.Alma Teresa Hansen was born March 25, 1913 at Waconda [Wakonda], S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Anderson) Hansen. She attended and graduated from the Waconda Schools, and attended the Sacred Heart School of Nursing at Yankton, S.D. ON Feb. 16, 1933 she was united in marriage with Roy Joseph Smith in Yankton. The couple lived at Yankton, and Volin, S.D. before moving to Estherville in 1951. Mr. Smith died May 9, 1981.
Survivors include four daughters: Patricia Carr, Spirit Lake, Jean Kincaid, Austin, Tex., Colleen Mahoney, Omaha, Neb., Sharon Patterson, Great Falls, Mont., two sons: James Smith, Golden, Colo. and Michael Smith, Union Lake, Mich.; 25 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Carl Hansen, Parker, S.D.; three sisters, Agnes Anderson, Viborg, S.D., Carey Jorgensen, Wilmer, Minn. and Myrtle Holm, Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; one grandson; parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1984)
