Wallingford – Mrs. LeRoy (Elizabeth) Schacherer, 74, Wallingford, died Sunday [October 19, 1980] morning at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Services for Mrs. Schacherer will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with interment in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, after 2 p.m. Tuesday. A Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Reuland, she was born March 1, 1906, at Alta, received her early education in Storm Lake schools and graduated from Superior High School.

She was married to LeRoy Schacherer on June 17, 1929, at Estherville and the couple farmed in the Estherville-Wallingford area until retiring and moving into Wallingford. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Altar and Rosary Society, was active in 4H and Extension work and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Schacherer is survived by her husband, LeRoy, Wallingford; five daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Mary) Herum, Wallingford, Mrs. Richard (Delores) Umscheid, Estherville, Mrs. Lloyd (Lucille) McCombs, Graettinger, Mrs. David (Lorraine) Origer, Ceylon, Minn., and Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Hunt, Dolliver; two sons, Louis Schacherer, Estherville, and Eugene Schacherer, Wallingford; 29 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two brothers, Matt Reuland and George Reuland, her twin brother, both of Superior.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 20, 1980)
