Dorothy Mart
Estherville – Mrs. George (Dorothy) Mart of rural Estherville died Friday at Holy Family Hospital. The Rev. Thomas Topf will officiate at funeral services for her at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

A Legion of Mary Rosary was recited for her Sunday afternoon and a parish Rosary was offered that evening at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Visitation was 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mart was born Feb. 4, 1924, at Palmer, the daughter of Brunke and Margaret (Martins) Weimers. She received her education in the Palmer schools and was married to George Mart at Pocahontas Feb. 13, 1945.

The couple made their home at Pocahontas, later moving to Havelock before settling in the Estherville area in 1950.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church here.

Surviving are her husband, George; a daughter, Cheryl Mart of Denver; three sons: Thomas Mart and wife, Donna, and Michael Mart and wife, Luann, all of rural Estherville and Dennis Mart and wife, Connie, of rural Terril; a brother, Paul Weimers of Manteca, Ca.; four sisters: Mrs. Kendal (Lucille) Peterson of Pomeroy; Mrs. Fred (Darlene) Sage of Ankeny, Mrs. Lavonne Wiser of Ford, Ks., and Mrs. Henrietta Junge of Cedar Rapids. Nine grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, Joseph and Steven; her parents and a brother, Everett. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 16, 1988)
