Estherville – Services for James (Leo) Leonard, 75, were held Monday morning at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Father Albert O. Grendler officiated. He died Saturday [November 6, 1982] morning at Holy Family Hospital. Fuhrman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Leonard was born Jan. 10, 1907 at Champaign, Ill., the son of Patrick and Mary Leonard. He moved with his parents to the Scranton and Algona areas as a small boy and received his education there. On September 25, 1935 he was united in marriage to Ruth Donahue at Emmetsburg where the couple farmed until 1952 when they came to Estherville where Leonard was employed at the Morrell Packing Company. He retired in 1966.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, Estherville; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Lavonne) Wright, Estherville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 8, 1982)
