Estherville – Services for Carl Richard Mester, 79, Estherville, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.Mr. Mester died Tuesday [September 2, 1980] at the Good Samaritan Center.
The Rosary will be said at 7:30 o’clock tonight at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, where friends may all until 9 a.m. Friday.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mester, he was born Feb. 22, 1901, at Westphalia and received his education in Harlan schools. He was married to Katherine Barnett on July 14, 1931, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven.
He came to Estherville as a boy and was employed at the Buick and Chevrolet garage for 36 years until retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Mester is survived by his wife, Katherine, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. John (Margaret) McFadden, Estherville; one son, Richard Mester, Santa Barbara, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Mester, Storm Lake, and Joe Mester, Detroit, Mich.; and four sisters, Mrs. Leona Westerman, Detroit, Mrs. Marie Henaman, Omaha, Neb., Viola Mester, Cedar Rapids, and Evelyn Mester, Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 4, 1980)
