Mona Schenck, 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Schenck of Estherville, died Saturday at 3:35 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital from injuries suffered when she fell out of a milk truck driven by her father. The accident occured at 2:11 p.m. Saturday on Sixth Avenue South 113 feet east of the Chicago Northwestern railroad tracks. According to the police report, the milk truck was traveling east, when Miss Schenck started to climb into the driver compartment, which was open, stumbled, and fell out the right door. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance immediately, but never regained consciousness. Death was caused by a basal skull fracture.

Mona Lee Schenck was born March 4, 1953, at Oceanside, Calif. She moved to Estherville with her parents when she was 11 months old. An eighth-grade student in Estherville Junior High School, she played in the elementary band and was a member of Methodist Youth Fellowship. She is survived by her parents, one sister, Candace Sue, 11: Two brothers, Clayton, 3, and Scott, 15 months, all at home. Also surviving are her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruie Lindsey of Estherville and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Schenck of rural Estherville.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert, and her maternal grandfather.

Family services will be Wednesday at 10:30a.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home followed by public services at 2p.m. at the First Methodist Church, Rev. C.r. Buckwalter officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7p.m. today and until noon Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 7, 1966)
