Estherville – Funeral services for Mayme Orvis, 95, Estherville, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery. She died Saturday [February 7, 1976] night at the Rosewood Manor, Estherville.

Mrs. Orvis was born Dec. 3, 1880 at Bellevue to Henry and Cora McDonald Pfiffner. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School and Iowa State Teachers College and taught several years before she was married to Joseph Orvis Aug. 17 1904 at Emmetsburg. They moved to Estherville in 1904 where he was employed with the railroad. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Emmet County Historical Society.

Survivors include two daughters, Marion Orvis, Estherville; and Mrs. A.W. (Eleanor) Nelson, Altadena, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
