Milford – Mr. Ova Omundson, 85, Milford, died Wednesday [May 4, 1977] at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. Leyson Funeral Home, Milford, in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 5, 1977)

Services were held Saturday, May 7, 1977, at 2 p.m. at the Leyson Funeral Home in Milford for Ova S. Omundson with Father James Fandel officiating. Mr. Omundson was born to Halvor and Olive Omundson at Milford on July 11, 1892. He attended school at Milford and Spirit Lake.

He was united in marriage to Loretta Maloney and to this union three children were born, two sons and one daughter, Helen, John and Ova Jr.

Mr. Omundson retired and made his home in the lakes region. He worked for Iowa Light and Power as a lineman in the Denison and Charter Oak area. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

On May 4, 1977 he passed away at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake. Survivors include five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, Lauretta Omundson, of Milwaukee, Wis; two sons and one daughter, Helen Penzio, of Milwaukee, Wis., John Omundson of Bellevice, Wash.; and O.F. Omundson of Seville, Spain. Preceding him in death were his parents and five sisters.

Pallbearers were Douglas Anderson, Larry Anderson, Randy Beaver, Arnold Hall, James Randall and Mike Reynolds. Rosary was held at 8 p.m. May 6 at the Leyson Funeral Home. (Milford Mail and Terril Record, Milford, IA, May 19, 1977)
