Dennis Earl Loewenberg, the son of Henry and Frances (Petersen) Loewenberg, was born September 16, 1930, in Halfa, Iowa. He passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 80 years. He attended high school in Sherburn, Minnesota and then moved to Estherville with his family in 1948. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge from military duty he returned to the area. On November 20, 1950, Dennis eloped with June Burns to Elk Point, South Dakota and started their life together as husband and wife. After their marriage they made their home in Estherville where he made a living as a carpenter. In 1972, he and June moved their family to Escondido, California. In 2002, they moved back to Estherville. Throughout his life Dennis enjoyed gardening, woodworking, golf, football, hunting and baseball. He cherished his time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Dennis was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville. He was a life time member of the VFW in Estherville. Dennis is survived by his four children, Dena Howard and fiance Doyle Becker, Kevin Loewenberg of Estherville, Sarah Caskey of Estherville, Lynn Wright and her husband, John, of Tiffin, Iowa; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold Loewenberg and his wife, Nancy, of Cypress, California, James Loewenberg and his wife, Ellen, of Edina, Minnesota; one sister, Rose Ella Cronk of Armstrong, Iowa; brother-in-law, Daryl Burns and his wife, Barb; and two sisters-in-law, Mavis Loewenberg and Lucille Lyon all of Estherville. Preceding Dennis in death were his wife, June, parents, two brothers, Ervin, Melvin and three sisters, Luverne Skow, Christina Jensen and Ardella Burgess.
