Funeral services for Victor William Ricke, 65, of Arnolds Park were held Saturday, Nov. 24, 1984, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford with Father James Fandel officiating.

Soloist Herman Richter sang, “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name” as he was accompanied at the organ by Theresa Feldhacker.

Pallbearers were Howard Titterington, Daryl Whitney, Jim Bonnstetter, Raymond Krieger, Jon Anderson and William Fredin.

Military rites were held at the grave site.

Interment was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Estherville.

Victor William Ricke was born to Anton Ricke and Mary (Fleege) Ricke at Breda, Ia., on April 25, 1919. He attended school in Carroll County.

On Oct. 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Bosold at Estherville and to this union three children were born.

Following time in the service, he lived at Estherville where he was employed at the Holy Family Hospital. In 1961, Ricke moved to Arnolds Park and was a long time employee of Vern & Coila’s Club.

Ricke was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard’s Church in Breda.

He was a member of the V.F.W. after serving in World War II in the U.S. Army.

On Nov. 21, 1984, Ricke passed away at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen of Arnolds Park; children, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) Bolgren of Galesburg, Ill., Douglas Ricke of Spirit Lake and Margaret (Peggy) Ricke of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Sarah and David Bolgren and Michael and Anne Ricke; a stepson, Tony Scott of Spirit Lake; and a brother, Irwin Ricke of Estherville.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

The Leyson Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of the arrangements. (Milford Mail and Terril Record, Milford, IA, November 29, 1984)
