Ludvig Linge Dies After Short Illness
Ludvig Linge, carpenter and former assistant postmaster in Estherville, died at 5:30 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital at the age of 77. Failing in health for the past three months, he died of old age and complications six days after he entered the hospital.Mr. Linge was born March 9, 1874, near Bergen, Norway, and came to Estherville alone at the age of 18 to live with the George Rugtiv family. His brother, Nels was living in Estherville at that time also.
He attended the public school in Bergen and Humboldt college in Humboldt. He worked as a carpenter, served as mailing clerk and acting assistant postmaster for about 12 years and returned to carpentry in 1932.
He moved to the Balmer rest home three months ago.
A brother, John of San Diego, Calif., and several nephews and nieces survive his death. His parents, Herborg and Torwald Linge, five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Sternborg funeral home, the Rev. L.G. Hinderaker officiating. Burial will be at the Eastside cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 31, 1951)
