George Lenz Rites Held
Funeral services for George W. [William] Lenz, 74, Estherville, who died Aug. 3, 1972, were held at 2 p.m. today at Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment was made in East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Lenz was born Aug. 29, 1897, in Lake Park to Mr. and Mrs. George W. Lenz, Sr. He grew up in Lake Park and was educated there. On Sept. 1, 1920, he was married to Bulah Irene Barnes at Lake Park. They made their home at Lake Park until 1937 when they moved to Estherville. Mrs. Lenz died Sept. 14, 1967.

Self-employed as a mechanic, Mr. Lenz did much of his work for farmers in the area on farm machinery. He was a member of Modern Woodmen of America and was an ardent hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R.C. (Ruth) Cook, Dallas, Tex.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Ruth Lee Rappe, and one grandson, Jerry Lee; five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers.

The Rev. Richard Pearson of United Methodist Church officiated at services. Music was presented by Louis Obye as soloist, accompanied by Mrs. August Rosenberger, organist. Pallbearers were Orval Clark, Steven Lange, Don Sievers, Robert Owens, Harris Myers and Harold Cavanaugh. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1972)
