Edward Lenz, 65, Dies of Heart Attack
Edward Lenz, 65, died Sunday [November 26, 1967] at 8:45 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital, where he had been ill after suffering a heart attack 15 days ago. Mr. Lenz suffered another heart attack Friday morning.Born April 15, 1902, in Lake Park, he was the son of George and Elizabeth Lenz. He received his education in the Lake Park schools.
Edward Lenz and La Vonn [Lavonne] McCoy were married June 28, 1922, in Spirit Lake. They lived in the Lake Park area until 1935 when they moved to Estherville.
Mr. Lenz was employed here at the P.G. Gray Produce Company, at Estherville Cooperative Creamery, and at the Pan-O-Gold Baking Company. He retired in 1962.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Murray of Delta Junction, Alaska, Leo of Estherville, and Edward of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Merle (Velva) Solberg of Armstrong; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, George of Estherville and Herbert of Lake Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 pm. In First Presbyterian Church, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today until noon Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Ted Smith, Gerald Fitzpatrick, Darrell Lee, Thomas Blair, Bernard Morrell, and Kenneth Boyer. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 27, 1967)
