Marjorie Faye (Strohman) Helmick, the daughter of Jeremiah and Cleora (Cady) Strohman, was born June 1, 1916, in Cambridge, Minnesota. Marjorie passed away Monday, February 14, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 94. She received her education in the country schools near Cambridge. Following her father's death at age 12, she moved with her mother to Estherville where they made their home. On July 26, 1936, Marjorie was united in marriage to George Helmick in at his parents’ home in Estherville. The couple made their home in Estherville where they raised their family. Marge was not only a homemaker, but she was employed outside the home, cleaning others homes and working at Balmer Nursing Home and Rosewood Manor as a CNA. She retired in 1983. George died February 6, 1985. In her leisure time Marge enjoyed quilting, gardening, putting picture puzzles together and baking. Marjorie was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. Left to cherish Marjorie's memory are her children, Lola Burt and her husband, Joe of Estherville; Delores Lappegard of Superior, Iowa; Jim Helmick of Estherville; 23 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She has been preceded in death by her husband; 4 sons, Arnold, Marvin, Kenneth and David; sister, Arlene Lappegard; her parents and brother, Clarence.
