Irwin John Ricke, the son of Anton and Mary (Fleege) Ricke, was born December 1, 1912, in Breda, Iowa and departed this life at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, on Monday, May 8, 1995, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 7 days.

He attended school at St. Bernard’s in Breda, Iowa.

On June 22, 1937, he was united in marriage to Lucille Woerdehoff in Breda. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Emmet County where they farmed near Gruver, Iowa, until 1953, when they moved into Estherville. Lucille died in 1966. On April 11, 1970, he was united in marriage to Jean [Richardson] Knutsen at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. He was employed at Estherville Concrete Products and the Iowa Liquor Commission until his retirement in 1975.

Mr. Ricke is survived by his wife, Jean of Estherville; two sons, Jim Ricke and his wife, Beth of Estherville; Dick Ricke and his wife, Charlotte of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, JoAnn Wragge and her husband, David of Tekamah, Nebraska; one step-daughter, Karen Shaw and her husband, Ron of Westminster, Colorado; two step-sons, Kim Knutsen of St. Paul Minnesota; Kerry Knutsen of Chickasha, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jay Ricke of Des Moines, Iowa; Jill Ricke of Estherville; Todd Wragge and his wife, Kristi of Hampton, Iowa; Heidi Grunkemeyer and her husband, Jim of Omaha; Amy Ricke of Lincoln, Nebraska; Sarah Ricke of Omaha; two step-grandchildren, Colin Shaw of Westminster; and Matthew Shaw of Boulder, Colorado; and one great-grandchild, McKenna Wragge of Hampton. He has been preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille, his parents, and three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence and Victor. (MC)
