Edmund Joseph Peters, the son of Ed and Sophie (Haase) Peters was born May 25, 1953, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and departed this life on Wednesday, January 29, 1997, at his home in Waseca, Minnesota, at the age of 43 years, eight months and four days.

He received his education in the St. Patrick’s School and Estherville High School, graduating in 1971.

On January 9, 1971, he was united in marriage to Joyce Anderson in Estherville. Joe worked for Rock Island Railroad until 1980. He then worked as a grain sampler in the Estherville area until 1991. Joe has been working as a conductor for the D M & E Railroad and living in Waseca, Minnesota, for the past years. He loved the outdoors and woodworking. Joe was an avid fisherman.

Joe was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.

Mr. Peters is survived by his daughter, Sara Peters of Estherville; parents, Ed and Dorothy Peters of Estherville; eight brothers and sisters, Susan Pollen of Salem, New Hampshire; Shelly Peters of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Katie Peters of Forest City, Iowa; Nancy Peters of League City, Texas; Martin Peters and his wife, Janet of Pomona, Kansas; Jenny Peters of Salem, New Hampshire; ten step-brothers and step-sisters, Henry Sorenson and his wife, Lana of Corning, Iowa; Michael Sorenson and his wife, Cindy of West Des Moines; Gary Sorenson of Schaumburg, Illinois; Mark Sorenson and his wife, Stacy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Rosemary Croner and her husband, Jeff of Estherville; Dr. Margaret Sorenson of Oklahoma City; Christine Rawlings of Estherville; June Neal and her husband, Wayne of Plano, Texas; Karen DeMuth of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Annette Dalen and her husband, Jerry of Estherville; and also by many nieces and nephews. He has been preceded in death by his mother, Sophie; three sisters, Linda, Danna and Paula; one brother, Dennis; and also his grandparents. (MC)
