Estherville – Services for Urban Henry Pluth, 78, of Estherville will be Monday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. He died Thursday, March 25 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Legion of Mary Rosary will be at 4 pm. Sunday and Parish Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
He was born on September 30, 1914 in Estherville, the son of John and Antonia (Kohles) Pluth. He married Irene Smith on June 28, 1939 in Estherville. He was a lifelong resident of Emmet County farming in the Estherville area for many years. The couple retired from farming in 1980 and moved into Estherville. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, was a 4-H Club Leader for many years, served on the Emmet County Fair Board and was a past member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; two sons; Gerald Pluth of Estherville and Allen Pluth of Port Washington, Wisc.; and one daughter, Joyce Schnell of Graettinger.
Other survivors include a brother, Leonard Pluth of Estherville; two sisters, Loretta Spoo of Gruver and Hilda Wempe of Estherville; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Antonia Pluth, one brother and one brother-in-law. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March, 1993)
