Sister Mary Othilda Haas 1897-1977

ESTHERVILLE - Sister M. Othilde, 80, succumbed Saturday [February 12, 1977] at Holdy Family Hospital following a five-month illness. She was with Holy Family Hospital from 1944 until the time of her death, where she was in charge of Sacristy and seamstress.

Services for Sister Othilde are pending at Holy Family Hospital. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery here.

Fosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. daily at the hospital until time of services.

Sister Othilde was born Jan. 11, 1897, in Schraudenbach, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Frs. Franz Haas. She received her high school education in Schraudenbach and college education at the Sorrowful Mother Convent, Milwaukee, Wis.

She was in charge of orphan children at Wabasha, Minn., from 1931 to 1944 and worked at the Hanarbeits Seminar in Abenberg, Bavaria, Germany, from 1924 to 1927.

Sister Othilde is survived by one brother, Alban Haas-Eltmann, Schweinfurt, Bavaria, Germany; and one sister, Mrs. Monika Rumpel-Schraudenbach, Schweinfurt, Bavaria, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA Feb. 14, 1977)
