Andrew Joseph Hoffman, the son of Dennis James and Jean M. (Rochford) Hoffman, was born February 28, 1983, in Fairmont, Minnesota, and departed this life suddenly, on Sunday, July 4, 1999, at West Lake Okoboji, Iowa, at the age of 16 years, four months and six days.

Andy lived in the Estherville area his entire life. He attended the Estherville-Lincoln Central Community School District, where he was currently between his sophomore and junior year at Estherville-Lincoln Central High School.

He enjoyed all sports, but especially football, wrestling, track and baseball. Andy was also an avid weight lifter. For recreation he loved fishing and tinkering with and repairing various things. Currently his project was building a motorcycle. Andy was a farm boy and was starting his own cow and calf herd.

Andy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville and was a member of the Church Youth Group. Andy also participated in the local FFA and 4 H Chapters.

Andy is survived by his parents, Jean and Dennis J. Hoffman of rural Estherville; three brothers, Michael John Hoffman, Patrick James Hoffman and Gregory Robert Hoffman all of rural Estherville; his paternal grandmother, Ethel Hoffman of Estherville; his maternal grandfather, Frank Rochford of Des Moines, Iowa; several aunt and uncles; and many cousins.

Preceding Andy in death were his paternal grandfather, Leonard Hoffman; his maternal grandmother, Olive Rochford; his uncle, Alan Hoffman; and his aunt, Mary Elizabeth Rochford. (MC)
