Estherville – Services for Francis “Bud” Donahue, 73, of Estherville will be held Wednesday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. He died Sunday, June 25 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home with Legion of Mary Rosary services at 4 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born August 17, 1921 in Estherville, the son of John Patrick and Catherine (Kuhn) Donahue. He received his education in the Spirit Lake schools graduating from Spirit Lake High School. He then attended junior college in Sheldon on a basketball scholarship.

He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in May of 1942 serving in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Philippines, Okinawa and was discharged in 1946 and was employed by Rock Island Railroad as a fireman. On November 18, 1961, he married Bonnie Bammer Cody in Jackson, Minn. In 1955, he became an engineer by the company until his retirement in 1980. He moved to Victorville, Cal. in 1981 and returned to Estherville in 1983. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388 in Estherville.

He is survived by two daughters, Darcy Donahue of Denver, CO; Mrs. Darrell (Christy) Johnson of Greely, CO; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Dan (Margaret) Keith of Victorville, Cal.; one brother, Vincent of Victorville and former wife Bonnie Donahue of Estherville.
