Dorothy Irene Chukker, the daughter of Martin and Blanche (Farnham) Chukker, was born January 21, 1917, at Wellsburg, Iowa. She departed this life on Monday, August 9, 2004, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Dorothy attended country school near Ackley and later Ackley High School before moving with her family to the Gruver area, where she graduated from Gruver High School. She then studied telegraphy for one year at Chillicothe, Missouri.

On September 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Bush in Estherville. The couple farmed near West Bend after their marriage. Dorothy later worked at Holy Family Hospital for thirteen years.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Family members surviving include cousins, Mary Bockman of Omaha, Nebraska; Betty Christensen of Conroe, Texas; and Connie Sucre of New York, New York.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. (MC)
