Mary Kay Donovan was born in Estherville, Iowa on October 8th, 1926. Mary Kay Donovan passed away on April 29, 2006 at Bethany Homes in Fargo, North Dakota.

She attended elementary school both in a one room country school in High Lake Township, Emmet County, Iowa and in the Estherville, Iowa school system. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1943. She was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council and Inner Circle. She attended Estherville Junior College for one year then attended Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated with honors (Magna Cumlaude) in 1947, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Her working world took many turns. She worked for her father at the (Chrysler Plymouth garage) Donovan Motors for a time before moving to Des Moines, Iowa, to work at the Des Moines Register and Tribune newspaper. She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, employed by Dayton's as a systems analyst. She was on the team that opened Southdale, the first "under one roof" shopping center. She moved East to New York City and worked for a time at Stephens Scudder then with computers at Honeywell. She was a systems representative on Broad Street in New York training Corporate employees how to use their computers. The last few years before her retirement she was Education Manager for MAI for the Eastern District.

Mary Kay retired in 1992, and built a home on Lake Le Homme Dieu in Alexanderia, Minnesota. In October 2002, she moved to Bethany Home in Fargo, North Dakota.

She is survived by her sister Maxine Hamilton of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her sister in law, Loretta Donovan of Estherville, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kathryn and Matthew Donovan; her brother Edwin; nephew Patrick; and brother-in-law William Hamilton. (MC)
